Biography

Erik S.H. Wallen graduated from Michigan State University in 1985 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He received his Juris Doctor degree in 1989 from Thomas M. Cooley School of Law. He was admitted to the Michigan Bar in 1989 and was hired as an Associate with the Law firm of Patterson Gruber Kennedy Gill and Milster located in Bay City, Michigan concentrating in criminal defense and general civil litigation. In 1997 Erik was promoted to Partner, concentrating in Civil Litigation. In 2000, Erik joined the law firm of Kennedy Gill Wallen Rieman and Reyes as a Partner where his practice focused on Personal Injury Litigation, Family Law and Criminal Defense. In January, 2005 after 16 years in private practice in Bay City Michigan, Erik joined the Midland County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office as the Chief Assistant Prosecutor.
Erik was responsible for the oversight of the day to day office operations, the management of the criminal case load and the attorney staff. Erik prosecuted felonies ranging from violent assaultive crimes to capital drug offenses. In December, 2013 Erik was appointed Midland County Prosecuting Attorney where he in addition to his case load, was responsible for a wide array of legal functions for Midland. Erik returned to private practice joining the Law Firm of Bock and Wallen PLC in November,2014. Erik has served on the Midland County Child Protection Council, Safe and Sound Child Protection and Advocacy Center Committee, 1016 Recovery Care Network Board of Directors (Chairman in 2012 and Vice-Chairman in 2011), and various sub-committees in the community. He has been a member of the Midland County Drug Court since it’s inception in an effort to curb recidivism for individuals charged with substance-abuse related crimes in the community. Erik has practiced law in the Michigan Tri-City area for the past 29 years. He has been married to his college sweetheart for 30 years. Erik and Carrie have two children, Taylor age 26 and Garrett age 24.

Thomas E. Bock
Thomas E. Bock is a graduate of Wayne State University, Phi Beta Kappa, and Wayne State's Law School. He began practice in 1978 gradually narrowing the scope of his general practice to concentrate in Family Law. With hundreds of custody and property trials and thousands of family law cases handled in the Courts throughout mid-Michigan, Tom has learned through the experience of his clients the skills to handle Family Law matters. He is regularly selected by Federal District Courts and Attorneys to arbitrate and mediate Family Law cases.
     Tom is a member of the Michigan State Bar, and admitted to practice before the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a past President of the Michigan Bar Association. In 2008, he was awarded the Thomas More Society Edward J. McLandle Memorial Tribute for service in the legal profession. He is also honored to be a member of Fellows of the Michigan State Bar Foundation.

     Tom was a three term member of the Bay City Commission, and a past member of the Bay City School Board. He has organized and taught Family Law Courses in the Criminal Courts Courses at Delta College and Saginaw Valley State University.

     Tom and his wife Karen, who is a retired Family Court Judge, have been married for 39 years. They have one daughter who is married and have provided them the pleasure of two small grandchildren.
